Privacy notice

This notice says what Star Gaze collects when you use it, why, where it is kept, who can see it and how to have it deleted.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and your password. The password is stored only as a scrypt hash; nobody, including us, can read it.
- Birth data you enter: date and time of birth, the place (its name, latitude, longitude and timezone) and, if you give them, a name for the chart and a gender. Charts you save are kept in your account.
- Account activity: when you signed up and when you last logged in.
- One cookie: a session cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 30 days. It holds a random code, and only a hash of that code is stored on our side. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
- Your internet address: used, in the server's memory only, to limit repeated login attempts. Our host's standard request logs also record it for a short time.
Star Gaze loads nothing from other sites: no analytics, no advertising, no third-party fonts or scripts. Your city search and your PDFs are handled on our own server.
Why
- To calculate your chart and its periods, produce your chart card and technical sheet, and keep the charts you save.
- To run your account: logging in, changing your password, deleting your account.
- To keep the service working and secure, including limits on login attempts.
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it to profile you.
The astrologer may review your birth data
The astrologer who runs Star Gaze can open the charts saved in any account, with the birth data in them, and prepare readings and working notes from them. This is done to check the quality of the calculations and readings and to prepare readings for you. Those notes stay with the astrologer.
Where it is kept
On servers rented from Render (render.com) in Singapore. Render keeps a daily snapshot of the server's disk for about seven days. The astrologer also keeps backup copies of the database, off the server, to recover from a failure.
How long, and how to have it deleted
Your account and charts are kept until you delete them. You can delete your account and every chart in it yourself, at once, from your account page. A single saved chart can be deleted from the chart form. Deleted data leaves the live database immediately; it disappears from Render's snapshots within about seven days and from the astrologer's backup copies within 30 days.

Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Your chart data can be copied out at any time with the app's text export.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. See also the Terms of use.
